The .swf format is the Macromedia Flash file format which stands for Shockwave Flash. It is a published Flash file that the Macromedia Flash player reads and interprets. Macromedia's Flash player is a plug-in for internet web browsers which allows Flash animations and other forms of dynamic interactivity. Flash files can also be played in standalone players.
The .fla format is the Macromedia Flash source document for the .swf files. You will need this file if you intend to make changes to your Macromedia Flash presentation (the swf files).
